I had downloaded PhotoShop Pro7 try and buy. And when I decided to uninstall it, I found that I couldn't open any JPG or JPEG files anymore. How can I fix this? How can I get the JPG format back?

The best thing would be to reinstall Photoshop, associate it with all image files (there must be something like that in the options of PS), and reboot.

Now go back to the options of Photoshop, restore the Windows file associations again, and reboot once more.

Finally uninstall Photoshop in Add/Remove Programs, and reboot one last time.

Now you should be able to view jpegs again.

Alternatively, download and run http://www.geocities.com/Paris/Music/9899/Preview.ZIP

It should restore the Windows file associations for JPEGS and some other image file types.

Good luck,

Don’t know what Tony was suggesting there because the link isn’t working for me. A good program is Irfanview at www.irfanview.com Associate all of your graphics types to Irfanview when you install it. It is an excellent viewer.

If you have a particular viewer you prefer to associate the jpg with: Find a jpg and jpeg in Windows Explorer. Highlight the file and hold the shift key while you right click on it. Choose “Open with”. Check the box to always open this type of file with this program and then browse for the program you want to open it with in the little box.

Photoshop probably hijacked all of your other graphics types as well, so just installing Irfanview would be the easiest solution.
