Windows Media Player cannot play DVD video. Open Display in Control Panel, and then lower your screen resolution and color quality settings. To view the DVD Troubleshooter, click More Information

...is the error message i receive when attempting to play a DVD. (other media playing software give similar errors)

i never used to have this problem and i have tried and failed to play dvds that previously worked in this machine!

i have tried all resolutions and colour settings like the error suggests but to no prevail.

i have a dell dimension 8400 with dvd rw which has worked perfectly for about 6months.

is it possible i have removed somehting that was needed to playback dvds? (the drive still works for audio and games etc)

Any ideas or suggestions ??! :(

    thanks alot
