My wife's computer runs Windows XP SP3. After her computer has been running for about twenty minutes, all icons become unresponsive. Double-clicking on them does nothing. If I right-click on the system bar at the bottom of the screen, I get the expected menu, but if I select Task Manager, again nothing happens. I ran CCleaner. It didn't help. I am currently running a Malwarebytes scan. The scan window is updating itself as expected, but if I move it around the screen, the outline of the window remains visible. Windows XP is not updating the desktop as it should. Also, an Explorer window is active and minimized. When I expanded it, it was blank.

Can anyone suggest anything I can do to fix this?

Thanks very much!

Update: XP decided to refresh the desktop and the explorer screen is displayed normally. I don't know if those issues were related to the problem or not.

Hi, check and post
TSG System Information Utility - found here.
http://library.techguy.org/wiki/TSG_Valuable_links
------
Download Security Check by screen317
http://screen317.spywareinfoforum.org/
Save it to your Desktop.

Double click the install icon.
A command Prompt window will open.
Let it scan the Pc - press any key when asked.
It should now open in Notepad - and will save a log called checkup.txt.
Post the result of the scan here.
