I burned a movie from my camera to a DVD-R disk. It plays on my DVD-R recorder but when I put the disk into my computer, I can't see the file or get it to play.

Any thought as to why I can't get it to run? I was hoping to edit the movie and burn it on my computer.
Is the DVD-R format not recognizable on all DVD players and computers?

Did you burn the the DVD-R disc on the recorder that you said can play it? If so, did you finalize the disc on the recorder? An unfinalized disc may only work on the original recorder and not be recognized in any other kind of DVD drive.

I can see it on the machine I burned it on only. I don't think I finalized the disks so can I still do it now?

if you are doing a multisession disc you can fianlize it on the
drive you burned it on at a later time.

computer dvd drive would be able to read dvd-r disc that
is finalized or burned on that drive.

some dvd players can read dvd-r, others dvd+r, some
both and some neither. check the manual of the
player before burning discs for it.
