First of all. I'm glad I found and joined this sight.

The problem is there some search engines I cannot use. Such as: Yahoo search, AOL search, and MSN search. I've read several posts on the same problem so I figured I'd list my Hijackthis text and see if anyone can point me in the right direction.

What I've done so far is: used symantec's online antivirus (just incase mine wasn't working. Used Adaware, Spybot S&D, SpyBlaster, and TrojanHunter.

One thing I did notice that was the same as Thread "Some search engines no longer work?!?!" is that now the following is displayed when I use Yahoo Search (my main search engine):

    http://www.yahoo.com/r/sx/*-http://...8&fr=fp-top

If someone could please review this and save the rest of my hair from being yanked out. I would sure appreciate it.

I'm running windows XP and connecting to the internet with a cable modem.

And finally here is my Hijackthis listing:

    Thanks for the advice Buckaroo.

Unfortunately, I forgot to add FixQhosts as one of the things I tried. Sorry.

Well that log doesn't show anything different. I don't see any evidence that you are a victim of Qhost.

    Can you use Google?

    Hey flrman1,

To answer your question. I could not use Google....Friday.

Apparently everythings back to normal. I did use Stweedle's advice and downloaded and used http://software.brown.edu/dist/w-cleanqhosts.html

It didn't tell me if it fixed anything or not. I'm hoping it did. I would kind of like to know exactly what it did though. The website explains what it does....but...

Hey Stweedle thanks for the website. When you ran the program did it tell you anything?

I'm going to try one more thing after I send this message. And I'll post again to let ya'll know if it's really fixed or not.

Until then, thank ya'll very much.

    Stweedle & flrman1 & Buckaroo

    Well everythings just fine now.

Again, thank ya'll for the help.

I guess we can consider it solved. I want think so until I actually know what happened and what the fix was...

For everyone else with the same problem...I would highly recommend posting your Hijack this log so that the fine people of Tech Support Guy forum can look at it. It may be a slightly different problem than mine.

I would like to say "Hope to be back soon" but that would be a lie.

    Take care.

    :) :D  ;) (y)

Odd, you ran the Symantec removal tool; your log was clean, not sure what the other tool did, if anything. Not sure what happened here, but glad you're okay now.
