I get newsletters from school in the form of an email with a link and recently the link opens and I see the newsletter but all the test is unreadable - it's like the ink wasn't dry and someone ran a ringer along each line f text. Photos are ok but not any words. Here is the link I get - this is the most recent newsletter: http://www.yvg.vic.edu.au/file.php?fileID=5273. I can use the same link on my Surface pro 3 and no problem. Just started happening on my Mac which is up to date re software and as far as I know there haven't been any changes to my setup. Thanks for any help

Perhaps the font used in the newsletter has no suitable replacement on the macbook.
I haven't used an Apple product since 1989 so I have no way to test the theory.

The link you posted wants to download a pdf to my computer, not a php file.
I went to the website http://www.yvg.vic.edu.au/
and it appears fine but could not find any links for a newsletter.

Thanks. It did work on the Mac up until about December and maybe they have changed their font but it's not noticeable on my pc. The link to the news letter is this one which, at least on my Surface Pro 3 doesn't resolve to a pdf - it just opens the link and I can read the document right in the browser. From the home page you chose Valley Voice on the right and and then current edition or see this link: http://www.yvg.vic.edu.au/file.php?fileID=5274

It will not open in my browser. I suspect it is because I do not use Adobe Reader. I have chosen Sumatra so it downloads pdf files rather than opening them in my browser.

It appears fine, after I downloaded it to my computer.
