I am working on a project in Sony Vegas and want to splice in a 5 second clip from a movie that I have on dvd and was wondering how I could capture the clip to my hardrive from the dvd.

The clip is at the end of a 2+hour long movie and I rather not have to copy the entire movie to my hardrive.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Is the DVD a commercially made disc or a burned disc?

The copyguard will probably prevent you from getting the clip to your HD if it's a retail pressed DVD. You could find the correct VOB on the disc and try to copy it with Explorer and see what happens.

Assistance in breaking the copy protection encryption of DVD's is off-topic here. Sorry, we can't help with this issue.
