acraftylady,

What exactly does a system restore do to the computer??

Thanks,

When you put a CD in the CD drive does it auto play?
System restore takes you back to the day you pick. I only had to use it the once and I didn't loose any program files but any files you downloaded since that date will probably get wiped out like if you downlaoded a PDF file for the IRS or anything, not really sure as all my important files are always on disk so I don't care. System restore only works if you have it turned on though. If you don't have it turned on then it won't create any restore points. Also when I run my maintenace I was told to clear out the most recent restore points as part of maintenace so they don't pile up and take up space. I went from 98 to XP and I know 98 didn't have system restore but if you had ME I think you had the same thing.

Here's some links about system restore.

> If you're using System Restore, you can get back disk space by doing this:
- Start Menu / All Programs / Accessories / System Tools / Disk Cleanup
- from the Select Drive dialog, click OK or press ENTER
- click the More Options tab and click Clean up... under System Restore
- click OK or press ENTER at the next dialog which asks if you want to clean up all but the most recent restore points
