When I run Ccleaner it finds a bunch of files created by MS Internet Explorer. But, I do not use IE and have not for decades. I use Chrome. Have seen the same with Edge, but can't reproduce at the moment. Anyone know what's going on? I'm on Win10, latest rev. This is not ruining my life just yet, but a bit worrying as to what's going on in the background. See screen grab.

    Thanks.

Check your background apps in settings/privacy and turn all that off. Edge is a big culprit of always being on in the background. Even though you don't use it, it's collecting data and as a result of that collection shows up in Ccleaner. I don't use Edge or IE and both show up in my Ccleaner report after a cleaning.

It has something to do with windows 10 and how Edge/IE are interwoven into the OS.....it's the reason why when you open a link to something and it pops up with Edge or IE even though you have a different browser selected as default. Some of the default settings can't be change do to the integration of the two (OS and MS browsers).

Well there are several programs that use a built in version of IE.
I have a family research program that does this, but the next patch should use something else.

Also remember that Windows Update is using IE and/or edge. Edge has not been fully developed so it is using IE

Thanks for the tips. I had never explored those privacy settings and just turned a bunch of stuff off. Bet that was it.

Also did not know about this:

"Also remember that Windows Update is using IE and/or edge. Edge has not been fully developed so it is using IE

    Thanks!
