Does anyone know if my CD Burner quits everytime after it has burned the 2nd song if this is a hardware issue and I need to take computer in for repairs? I have a Gateway laptop, Model #MX6440, that is probably at least 5-6 years old. I have only used the cd burner probably 7 to 8 times. When I log onto my computer and check the device manager it says that I have a Philips DVD + RW SDVD8441. The last 3 times I have tried to burn music to a CD, I put in a brand new blank CD and the songs download and as soon as they start to burn to the CD it stops after the 2nd song and says I need to put in a new blank CD. I even purchase new upgraded CD's but the same thing happened - Help!!!:

since it's that old, even tho you haven't used it much, could be hardware failure. what program are you using to burn the cd's? have you tried a different program other than just switching cd brands?

    What software are you using?
Make sure the correct size is selected on the burning device.
