CD-R is for a single write only.
CD-RW is multiple write, so you can copy new stuff on.

If you are making an audio CD, CD's use .cdda format, similar to .wav. Any burning software will convert the source audio file automatically to the new format when burning. For example if I have 123abc.mp3 and tell Nero (a burning program) for example to burn, it will automatically convert it into the .cdda file.

What burning software do you have? I would recomend CD-R if you do not plan/need to use the disc of another use again. They are cheaper and I thin more reliable.

I am not familiar with ReaPlayer's burning. If it is the FREE version, I suspect it will limit the burn speed to say 4x or 8x (which is slow compared to 32x speed of most drives). Have a look at the settings to see what burn speed it will go.

I recall http://www.deepburner.com/ being recomended as a good free burning tool... Have a look at it.

If you plan on playing the CDs on common CD players, avoid CD-RW media as only late model players and CD decks will recognise them.
