My problem sounds a little like one that was posted previously. I installed a new CD drive into a friends computer. It worked fine for a coupl of months, and now it is not accessible. He says he's done nothing unusual for it to fail. My only guess could be that he is playing a lot of music on the drive, could this burn out the drive? When I check the settings it says everything else is in order. Would removing it and then rebooting to help the system find it, help in any way?

    Thanks

    Hi JONES99679, welcome to TSG.

You could try that, it may or may not make a difference. Have you tried cleaning it yet?

    Hi JONES99679,
By "not accessible" what do you mean? Does it not play anymore?
If the CD's do not play try getting a CD-ROM cleaner to clean the eye! Mine did the same thing and after using that it worked ok. Try to post PC info if you can!
