Anyone have a clue on this? I have a Windows ME machine and had to replace the hard drive last year. Ever since, I can easily burn cds, and my computer has no problem whatsoever reading any cd I've burned, but when I put any commercially produced cd in the drive, it does not even recognize that there's a cd in it. That goes for both data and music cds. I have a dell computer, and dell has been most un-successful in solving my problem.

TIA

Sharon

Adding on to my own post as no one has responded yet.
I did another test this morning - it is so weird. My cd drive will read/recognize ANY CDR, regardless of whether or not I created it. Just not regular cds.

What burning program are you using? It does make a difference. If it is roxio or adaptec most likely that is the problem. Roxio should be classified as malware.
