A couple of days ago, I tried to open my CD drive and it wouldn't open. When I finally did get it open (by turning off the computer and sticking an unbent bobby pin in the hole below the drive) and I got the CD in, the computer wouldn't recognize the CD. I went to Computer and none of the disk drives were showing up. Same for the Device Manager. I've used up most, if not all, of my computer knowledge on trying to figure this out so now I need some expertise.

I have an Emachines T5088 Desktop PC with Windows Vista Home Basic. If you need to know any more, feel free to ask.

    Hi,

There is a tutorial you can view about hiding or UNhiding hard drives and cd rom type drives in Vista:

    http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/155795-drive-hide-unhide.html

The item probably most relating to your situation would be 7. To Unhide All drives but the rest of the stuff is
something that you can bookmark for future use.....drives can use settings and be showing, or not, depending on your preferences. Just might be what happened.
