CD-Drives refuse to open.Help Pls

    Hi
    for the past couple of days my cd rom drive and the cd writer drive refuse to open no matter how much I keep trying.
    I am using windows xp pro and donot know what to do.

    Can someone pls help me

    Hi IdleWild,
    Refusing to open, you mean when you push the button nothing happens??
    Have you installed any new software or hardware lately?/
    Do you see the drives listed in Device Manager??
    Right click on the drive and select eject, does that work ??
    Get a paper clip, insert one end , carefully, into the little hole in the front. See if that will open .

    I opened it with the pin and it worked.Now I ahve to keep cds in both drives otherwise it takes forever to open.

    I'm also having the same problem..I just reboot my computer and it comes back to normal but after sometime, its stops responding and the CDRW drive disappears from my computer too sometimes. I still haven't a found a solution yet.

    I think its god ways to tell us to buy a new comp :) I hate windows xp !
