I have 2 CD drives ,a Kenwood 72x and a TDK 24x10x40x CDRW ,I have checked them with CD Speed and both show speeds of 12x. I checked both drives in Win 98se and they come in at 72x and 40x....Anyone have any ideas on what I am missing here ?

Check to make sure that the XP box has dma enabled for the controller.

Also, check with your motherboard/computer manufacter to see if they have updated busmaster drivers for the controllers.
