Hi

When I insert an audio CD Rom to import it into iTunes, Windows Media Player launches and locks both programmes up. I have tried turning off and uninstalling Media Player but it still does it in the background.

For Windows XP, you should be able to set auto-play to launch iTunes or to prompt you what to do when you insert an audio CD.

With no CD in the drive, double click on "My Computer" and right click on the CD drive.

Select "Properties" from the pop-up menu.

Select the "AutoPlay" tab and select "Music CD" from the list for content type.

iTunes should be one of the action items choices. You can also chose to take no action or be prompted for what action is to be done each time a music CD is inserted.

Click the "Apply Button"

You other choice could be to simply hold down the shift key while inserting a CD. Hold the key down until any CD access lights goes out. You should then be able to use iTunes to import from the CD.
