I was wondering if i bought a new HD and wanted to install Windows XP on that HD, could i use say my sisters XP CD key, to install that on my HD or would MS flag this and lock up the OS? (I dont use warez, i believe in buying stuff... thats why i dont have nay new game... bah i need money!).. Any help would be useful. Besides, how much can i get a XP CDkey (just cd key) for?

In theory Xp will not work with duplicate keys. You have to activate XP over the web or by phone for it to work and M$ might not activate it if it has the dupe key in it's database.

Ask M$ how much a licence for XP costs, that is what you get when you get a cd key, a licence to use the product

Unless this is XP Volume License (Corporate), you would indeed run afoul of the activation scheme.
