cd rom drive a mac

my mother gave her mac to my kids. i don't know much about them. They installed the sims game on and went to play it but the disc really drags so its impossible to play. when my mother had it she played sims on it and didn't have any problems. if any ideas will be appreciated. i uped the memory some on it but that didn't work. thanks for any info

Probably your video memory. Was the game intended to be played on a MAC?

thanks for answering. yes it was made for the mac. i will check the memory. i put in a music cd to see if that ran fine and it did except u could hear the disc sounding a little off.

What kind of MAC is it? What kind of memory did you put in? Perhaps you put in PC66 into a G4? Also, Ctrl+click on the application and go to Get Info. Click on the general pull down tab and click on memory. Try upping the minimum and prefered. Try going up about 1/3 at a time. If that doesnt help, enable VM. If VM is enabled, try disabling it, or increasing it.
