I have two CD drives in my pc. One is a Samsung SC-148C
and the other is a HP CD-Writer+ 9100.
My Samsung stopped working awhile ago so I thought it bought the farm.
But the Device manager says its working properly. I uninstalled it, removed it and tried another known working CD-Rom and the same thing happens or doesn't happen depending on how you look at it. I tried to update the driver but I can't find a working one anywhere. I'm figuring that might not be the problem whereas the one that I replaced it with gives me the same trouble.
I'm using the HP CD-Writer as the slave and it works fine!
My PC is an HP Pavillion and My OS is XP Pro.

When I try to access Drive D:
    a prompt pops up saying:
Please insert disk into drive D:.
and there is already a disk there. I've tried Data and music disks.

And you know for a fact that that cdrom works in another system? Just so we aren't chasing our tails ;)
