Hi all,
I am having a problem with my cd-rom drive. I am running WinXP Pro.
Basically, this is what happens:

1. I boot up the computer, with a cd already in the drive
2. I am able to log in successfully. Then the cd-rom drive starts
spinning, and the computer resets.
- This also occurs if you try and put a cd into the drive within
5 minutes of starting the computer
- After 5 minutes or so, the computer no longer reboots when a cd is
in the drive, and the drives function normally
- I have two CD-Rom drives connected to the computer; both of them
have the same issue (therefore the fault can't be attributed to the
CD-Rom drives - and just in case, I took one of the Cd-ROMS back to the manufacturer
for repair, but this didn't help).

I would appreciate any help on the issue!

check the device manager for any yellow marks along side of them if there is click on them and look what it is saying is wrong.
check the jumper settings are correct on the back of the drives
try uninstalling them from the device manager rebooting and let windows reinstall
check that they are listed correctly in the bios

What if you only connect one drive at a time?

Have you tried what dai suggested?
