I just put a new hard drive in my daughter's computer and I installed all the drivers. The manual says to let windows 98 install it's sound drivers as they are the correct ones and they worked. My problem is that I am not getting sound from the Cd-Rom. I have attached the audio cable and am able to hear music when I put in an audio CD. I hear the windows sound when I boot up and I can hear sound from any sound file I execute from the hard drive. The only sound I don't get is if I put in a CD that has other sound. For example,I have a CD that has pictures on it which my daughter made up and put sound to and played on this computer before, that now doesn't play. Also, the sounds on games don't play. and I have a tribute with sound that doesn't play.I have tried another CD-Rom drive that I removed from my computer and it's still the same problem. I have consulted some tech guys from the manufacturer and they have not helped. One told me that I had to install the midi and synthesizer drivers which I did and am still at square one. I have a feeling this is a simple solution except I don' know what it is. Hoping somebody here can help and thanking you in advance, I am, Pat Napolitano.

Have you opened the volume control icon in the lower right hand corner of the screen?
