cd rom won't work !!!

    I can not use my cd rom to load games or anything please help:confused:

    So when you put a disc in whast happens?

    and is the a DVD/CD combo drive and if so do DVDs work?

    Yes it is a dvd/cd rom drive. When I put anything in nothing loads, you can here the drive start and make a noise like it is reading it then it does nothing! When you click on the dvd/cd rom icon and click play or explore while you put a cd or dvd in it says there is nothing in the drive please insert dvd or cd , but the dvd is already in there. So it acts like it dont know you put a dvd or cd in.

    How old is the drive....

    Also try this go Start>>Computer....right click on the drive and choose Eject....does the drive open?

    yes it ejects, just dont read that any cd or any dvd is in there. It is a dell inspiron 5315 about 3 years old
