Philips cd/rw 800 series doesnot work. The main problem is the tray doesnot open. I did the usual steps of uninstalling software, changing the settings from master to slave with the cdrom, change software from adeptec to nero and still it doesnot work.

I dont want to give up -anybody have some suggestions, or have someone had similiar problems and found a solution

    TIA

If the tray does not come out correctly it's not a software of driver problem it's a hardware problem. You can sometimes fix them if you are mechanically inclined enough and can figure the mechanics of why it's not opening all the way. If you can't fix it the only other option is to replace it.

You can’t open the tray using the button the drive with a formatted RW in the drive. That is by design. You have to use the icon in the system tray.

    Otherwise, what Rockin says.
