Hey all. I'm having an odd problem with my CD-RW drive. WHen I put in a CD, it reads it perfectly. But when I try and copy a CD it doesn't burn. I also tried 5 dif. programs, so I know it's my CD-RW thats messed up somehow. What Can I do? Maybe the laser is messed up? Thanks.

You can try a firmware update from the manugacturer website as well as cleaning the laser with a cdrom cleaner.

If you do a little looking, rebate deals on new CD-RW drives are as low as $10 after rebate. I'd consider buying a new one. If it used to work, I doubt that the firmware suddenly changed to render it non-working.

what burning software are you using. I know with nero you have at option to burn to your hard drive and you can have to select the cd rom or the hard drive? a thought you may have to choose a recorder
