Yesterday I opened files (documents) from a cd and today it will not open - it reads as if it's blank.
My computer opens other cd's. This cd did not open on another computer.
    What happened overnight?

    Hi Kas225,

Maybe it is just dirty or there are some scratches. One possibility is that it has been close to a strong magnet.

I forgot to eject the cd, so it just sat in my computer overnight. The next morning, it wouldn't open.

That shouldn't kill your CD. I have forgotten CDs in my computer for weeks. That is really weird.

Not sure if your problem is now fixed but when the CD did work and you could read your document, or contents, did you get any error message?
I am really intrigued by this disk not opening up!

It worked without any problems. Then I closed it and went to bed, and in the morning, nothing.

I presume you have since removed the disc from the DVD tray? Have you tried to restart your computer and then once booted, insert the disc (as oposed to leaving it in the tray while starting your computer)?
Are you trying to read your CD from Windows Explorer by expanding My Computer and clicking on the D-drive? Or are you trying to read it via another way?

The first thing I did was remove the CD and restart the computer. Then I tried the CD in a different computer, and it didn't open. And I tried a different CD in my computer, which opened.

I am trying to open the CD through Windows Explorer, My Computer, etc.
It also does the automatic open window when I pop it in, but it shows it as a blank CD and asks if I want to record or transfer files.

It says that there are no files.

How could all those files just be wiped out?

What if you click on 'transfer files' and copy these to the hard drive?
