Can't seem to play music cd's (.cda file types) using Media Player 10.
Used file registration for assigning cda files to media player but still receiving error code COOD1197. Tried using other players (Real One; iTunes, etc.) with same results. Nothing recognizes "track.cda" of any music CD!
    Suggestions appreciated.

I always rip CD's to MP3, media players have no trouble with that format. Actually, I've never seen a use for CDA files, except on audio CD's. :)

    Thanks for your reply........
I agree with your suggestion but with my extensive CD collection I would still like to take advantage of my PC sound system (with many CD's) without the conversion.
Other friends of mine runniing XP Os are able to play my CD's on their units. So I'd like to figure out why this Dell Dimension 8100 with NEC 7800 & Samsung DVD/CD RW wont perform. But will remember your alternative. Thanks again.

The nice thing about MP3 files, presuming a quality encoder and a high enough bit rate, is that they're much more compact than CDA or WAV files, while keeping decent audio quality.
