    Hi,

My CD RW will not write to RW disks. I works fine on CD R’s but has refused to do anything with RW’s. I tried using Roxio, the windows utility and Itunes. All failed, also it wouldn’t even format a disk with Roxio. I have Dell 4400 running XP, the cd is listed as a hl-dt-st cd-rw 8400 b. This is what came with the comp, it is my girlfriends and she can tell me nothing else about it. I am using the same brand of rw’s and r’s, Memorex. Drivers are updated and the system has no other problems.

I obviously wondered if it doesn’t record to RW’s but the manual says it does and the properties window says it works with RW’s.

You may need to try another brand of CD-RW's. Since you using Roxio, go to their website and download the latest patches to their program. In many cases the patches resolve many issues and add/fix drive support.
