I installed a brand ndw Cendyne CD burner on a XP machine. First I tried to use Roxio Easy CD Creater, but got a message saying the drive is not supported. Then I installed the software that comes with the burner. Somehow I can use Windows Media Player to burn cd, but could not use the original software to copy entire cd, or use the drag and drop function.

Does this sound like a software problem or hardware problem? Is Cendyne just no good? What should I do? Too late to return, already past 30 day return period.

    Please help.
    Many thanks!

Okay, if it's a software problem, how do I fix it?

For Roxio , make sure you have the latest ver ( i belive 5.5 something since it really sounds that you are using ver 5 which did not support a whole lot of burners).
For the proprietary software might wanna do the same thing ( d/l the lastest ver) and might wanna do it quick as Cendnye is going out of business ( i belive that is already in conservatorship ) :(

Your Cendyne drive came with roxio?? Mine came with Nero 5.5 and it works fine. You might want to switch over to that.

Mine also came with Nero 5.5. I installed that but it did not work. My roxio is 5.1 and it didn't work. So I am screwed.

I believe CenDyne is just a rebadged Lite-On which are very good drives. I have never seen a Lite-On come with anything other than Nero.
