Hi everyone, I own an Acer Aspire laptop and certain keys aren't working, have had to use the on screen keyboard for a while and thought it's about time to get it fixed!

The keys that are permanently broken are that '0)' key and '/?' and intermittently I lose the left 'shift' key, and the I O P L keys.

Some of it seems to be concentrated in the top right of the keyboard, was wondering if it's a connection to the motherboard but wouldn't know how to fix it!

Any ideas would be welcome, have removed all of the above keys and cleaned them, even pressing directly onto the key underneath didn't help for the ?/ or 0) key.

    Thanks

    Howdy,

Does the touchpad work if it has one. And what is the model of the Acer laptop?

Hi, the touch pad works fine - doesn't turn off intermittently at all. And it's an Aspire 5755G. Hope that helps, thank you for finding the post :D

You can go to the Acer website and see if there are any updated drivers for that model like the chipset and touchpad but it sounds like the keyboard is faulty.

You can easily get a replacement keyboard for that laptop and you can look on the web for videos on how to install them

It's windows 64 bit. Would you be able to help me in finding a link? Will go check the acer website now for the drivers.
    Thanks!

Go to the link below and under Search bt Product name Enter Aspire 5755G then choose the Operating System.

Download the chipset driver and touchpad driver to desktop. Then install the chipset driver and restart the PC and then install the touchpad driver. If the keyboard is broken this will not help.

keyboards probably bad. they are pretty easy to replace. you can just order one from eBay and look for a video on YouTube on disassembling your model laptop.
