A few days ago, noticed that my automatic Windows update did not download 2 new updates. I tried manually but got error code 8007007E. I also noticed that some of the desktop icons had a small shield on them and when I tried to open them, they would not open and a window would open stating "specified module could not be found". I tried uninstalling some programs and they would not install. Then yesterday, I had to remove the Vista Home Security 2011 malware, which somehow got through McAfee and my Malware security. I need some help to get these programs running and/or to clean up a corrupted drive.

    Thanks Chris117,
Had to go to Safe Mode to try and download, since whatever has corrupted by computer does not allow any downloaded programs to install in regular mode. Would be nice if I could Recover to an earlier date when my last automatic Windows Update occurred, but the system will not let me do this.

Have you been using any registry cleaner/booster/optimizer/tuneup type programs before this problem started?
