I'm about to go from a Soyo P4I Firedragon (845, FSB: 400MHZ) to a MSI 845PE Max2-FIR (845PE, FSB: 400/533MHZ). My co-worker tells that I can't install the new Mobo without reinstalling WinXP from scratch. Is this true or is he just ignorant?? :D

    Please let me know.

You can swap mb as long as you have not installed proprietary chipset drivers for the old mb. If you have it can still be done, however it is more work.
With that said I do not recommend swapping mb without a clean install of the os. You will be happier in the long run with a clean install. The computer will be more stable with fewer problems.

I suggest if you have any data on there you want to keep save it and do a new install. You will have a lot less problems.
