    Hi
I have a question about changing the Windows Operating system. I am currently running Windows 98 and want to put Windows XP on. Will doing this lose all the other stuff that I have on my PC or will it just transfer over? Do I have to uninstall the current Windows or will that all happen when I put the new CD in?
    Thanks in Advance

If you are moving to XP you should backup any data that you need regardless of how you upgrade.

The prefered approach is to do a clean install which means the first step is a format of the HD. After the OS is installed you would then re-install any apps.

Doing an "upgrade" over 98 is asking for trouble.

xp is a lot more demanding than 98 especially on ram and you will probably need a bios upgrade
    check before you jump in
