Hello everyone, I have a loose charger port on my Asus x555l laptop that wont allow me to charge it. I am noy very good with computers and would like help finding a place to get help fixing it. A place that may be able to work with me on payments. I need a computer for my job that is starting next month and am low on funds. I can try to fix the port myself if need to. I am sorry if this is the place to post this message. I hope everyone has a great day.

Hi and welcome to TSG. You need to find a reputable computer repair shop that will allow you to work out any payment terms with them. Without knowing where you are residing I don't think anyone here can recommend any shop close to you.

If the charger jack is loose due to a broken solder joint, the shop may be able to open up the laptop and resolder the connection for a nominal fee.

If the jack is loose due to broken traces on the motherboard, a skilled technician may be able to open up the laptop and reattach the jack and repair the broken traces.

If the jack itself is broken, you may be out of luck if the repair shop cannot find a replacement for it.

You may have a connector on the end of wires coming from the power socket, if so you won't need to solder anything.

To check you will have to dismantle the laptop, hopefully the laptop in the video is very similar to yours :-

Looks like the A555l may not use a connector on a cable. If your jack is broken, you may be able to get a new one for a few dollars (US), but the labor will drive up the repair cost. Do you know someone that is skilled to do soldering on a multilayer printed circuit board and will do it as a favor? You would still need to confirm that only the connector is broken.

I think you're right Chuck, I found this picture of a motherboard and the power socket is soldered onto it.
It might be worth checking though by opening the laptop and looking, I'm not certain this is the same board.
