Hi, Thanks for the response. My computer won't let me go to the link you posted. I get the same message I do when I try to go to the websites it won't let me access, a alert box opens that says "(address I'm trying to reach) could not be found, please check the name and try again"

I downloaded a version of hijack this from a different site that I hope is the correct one, here is the log:

Uninstall Viewpoint Manager from Add/Remove Programs.

Run ActiveScan online virus scan:
http://www.pandasoftware.com/products/activescan.htm

When the scan is finished, anything that it cannot clean have it delete it.
Make a note of the file location of anything that cannot be deleted so you can delete it yourself.
Save the results from the scan and post them here please.

you will probably find active scan blocked as well so if it is try this first

Download the Hoster from here . UnZip the file and run hoster then press "Restore Original Hosts" and press "OK". Exit Program.
NOTE: if you use a customized hosts file to block certain sites then this will overwrite all those entries as well and you will need to re enter them

how do you connect via dial up or broadband

is it just security sites that you cannot connect to or lots of them as it is starting to look like a fault at your isp's end and their name server isn't working correctly

I'm certain this problem is with my computer and not my ISP. I had a similar problem 6 months ago and I remember checking with them and they had no problem.

I did a virus scan with my eTrust EZ antivirus and it came up with 4 infected files but it gives me no info on what to do with it. the virus' are "Java.ByteVerify!exploit" 3 times and "Java.Shinwow.Q" once. they are all located in windows/temp/jar_cache50519.tmp. Shouldn't my antivirus do something to quarantine or clean the viruses?

Click Start | Settings | Control Panel
Click the Java Plugin Icon
Click the Cache tab
Click the Clear button and click OK to confirm
Note: Please repeat this procedure for each "Java Plugin" button in your Control Panel.

or

Control Panel > Java > General tab
Temporary Internet Files > Delete Files
Checkmark all 3 options and click OK.
