    Win7
Last thing I did was a clean install of Win7, so when I try to Check Updates, it just runs and runs but never gets any updates.

I searched around and when I found something that seemed like it was a fix, it would actually be something called a "Windows Update Standalone Installer" but that just kept running too.a

    Thank you for any help.

Today, I did a "test" install and update of Windows 7 SP1 64-bit in a 4-year old Dell laptop that I acquired, and my steps worked just fine. (y)

You need to stay disconnected from the internet while running the standalone installers. You can also use Services.msc to restart the Windows Update service right before running the installers.

Hey Frank, I was looking at that thread and started to DL the updates but as soon as tried the first one "windows update standalone installer". It never stops and never does anything but act like it is searching. How long should I wait, I think I waited an hour one time?

Ok, did the "services.msc". then ran the Installer but I got an error message that say's
"the update is not applicable to your computer".

    Here are my specs.
    I also hv a 750w psu and a gtx 750 gpu.

That means that you choose the x86/32-bit version instead of the 64-bit version, the update is already installed, or you are missing one of the previous updates that this update needs before it can install. Did you start at Step 4 of the linked thread?
