checksum error on boot

when booting i get a 'bios checksum error. detecting floppy drive media. insert boot disk.' I've changed out the floppy drive, changed the ram, made various changes to the bios setup re: the floppy drive. all to no avail. resetting about 10 times when i boot eventually gives me a good boot. the clock seems OK with the correct date and time. Any clues? Many thanks.

BIOS is going bad or the battery. You usually only get checksum errors when the BIOS loses it's infomation.

Hi jholz, welcome to TSG....

I could be wrong, but I think setting the parameters incorrectly on the hard drive may generate this error as well....Do you have the choice in your bios to manually set them?
