chkdsk problem.....

I also have the same problem and I have additional info.
I found that another process is keeping chkdsk from running.
The trick here is to find what tool is locking it because it filed access to it and did not complete.
*** As for checking the hard drive for errors, I have, and recommend Steve Gibbson's Shields Up web-site which contains the program SpinRite.
This program has saved my butt many times at work repairing hard drives as well as realllllly
checking the drive for errors, and bad sectors. If it finds bad sectors, it moves the data to good ones and cancels the bad ones.
Those utilities that come with hard drives and that "smart monitoring" that most drives use today don't find problems until its too late.
