My brother wants to buy a laptop that will allow him to do 3D modeling and art, maybe some gaming, but at a decent price. Not exactly looking for the extreme model for absolute top-notch performance, but something moderate and affordable. He's looking for something in the price range of about 2200 CANADIAN before taxes.

We were looking at this: http://www1.ca.dell.com/content/products/productdetails.aspx/inspn_9400?c=ca&cs=CADHS1&l=en&s=dhs

Any input on that laptop or recommendations on others would be appreciated.

You'll want to look for a laptop equipped with a mobile ATI or Nvidia card installed. Most lappy's will come with some type of garbage on-board video.

Other places to look: ABS computers, Monarch computers, Velocity Micro.
