plz help....i do not profess to know much about computers........my child wishes to be able to film skateboarding, take camera to computer, hookup, see the new film on screen and then, with appropriate downloaded software, edit that film to show friends, put on you tube?, do all kinds of editing. My problem is I don't know what would be required to purchase at the store to enable this ability. I guess i am asking, "What specs do I need inside the laptop?", ram, memory, graphics card, drivers, etc. (all words i have heard recently but do not necessarily understand). Thanks in advance, kid11111

Please download and run the TSG Sysinfo utility.

Copy the information from that into your reply and we should have most of the critical information about your "specs".

I'm assuming that you already have the camera side of the task sorted out.

May like the "GoPro HD" camera also.
    http://gopro.com/

GoPro is the world leader in wearable and gear mountable cameras for sports & activities.

That way you can take a video and he can wear the camera and take video too.

Not sure what software comes with it but they show "Final Cut Pro 7.0" here. I think that's for a Mac.

I use a PC, what programs can be used to view and edit the videos?
