Cisco Aironet won't save config

I have a cisco aironet AIR-LAP1142N-A-K9 access points. When I try to do a wr to save the config (added community strings) I get a: "[OK] NVRAM Verification Failed " This AP does point back to a controller. How do I save the config or is there a problem with my system? I've been trying to find out on the Cisco web page how these things work, I do think they pick up their config from the controller but I'm not sure.
