    Evening guys,

I've just downgraded my PC from Windows Vista (home premium 32bit sp1) to Windows XP sp3, just because my computer is pretty old (Compaq Presario SR1629UK)

The problem I have is when I try to change the screen resolution on the desktop, only 3 options come up, these are 800x600, 1024x768 & 1280x1024 where as before I had about 7, and they all worked.

I have a 19" xerox xa3 monitor and have never had a problem running my screen in my preferred size, 1280x1024, but now whenever I try and change it an error message comes up saying "Mode not supported" and have to wait 14 seconds for it to revert back to the default setting, 1024x768

Not really sure what to do, any tips?

Have you installed the video drivers for your flavor of video chip?

Here is the support site for the Compaq Presario SR1629UK desktop - which was introduced in November 2005 and came with Windows XP Home Edition SP2 pre-installed.

Here is the original ATI graphics driver for it for Windows XP.

Here is the original Intel chipset driver for it for Windows XP.

The chipset driver should be installed first and then the computer restarted before installing the graphics driver.
