I want to do a clean install of win xp pro but am having some issues with my cd-rom drive. I currently have win 2000 pro installed on this machine but due to its hard drive having more space than my laptop i have the win xp pro cd on this machine's hard drive. Follow that?

Anyway, my question is: can I use a cd-rom emulator to install win xp pro? I'm wondering because it seems like the emulator program, being on the c: drive, would get wiped out by the installation...so really I'm not sure what would happen. Any ideas?

(Yes I know I should just buy a new cd-rom drive)
