I have a 1.4GHZ Athalon with 512MB of RAM and a 40GB HD runing DOS (on which System Commander 7 is loaded), Windows 98 SE, and Windows XP Pro. The Windows XP Pro partition is 26GB of which 12.5 GB is free, and the partition is defragmented. I'm have SP1 loaded. I've noticed a problem recently with XP; when I select the task bar and start menu button, select the Start menu tab and then click the customize button next to "classic start menu" (since I have classic view set), and then click the "clear" button to clear recent documents it takes between thirty-forty seconds to clear, regardless of what was listed. The only thing I installed recently that I can think of that might matter is DirectX 9.0b. Does anyone have any idea what the problem might be?
