ever since i lost office xp i've been using abiword in it's place, but it's just not the same, why?

    because clippy isn't there.

i really miss that fellow, i remember when i had to write a teaser resume for class project back then, it was late in the middle of the night and as soon as i type in a few words clippy would pop up giving me *encouragements, or suggestion if you will, for the duration of the night i would continue to type frantically, and occansionally clippy would do a nifty animation to drew my attendtion away and made me lose my focus, but somehow, admist all that anonyance i actually like having him around, from then on i continue to have him on by default, me and old clippy kept ewach other company for countless nights, and i must say i enjoy his company very much.

but it all went away when i threw away my piles of old software disc, which unbeknownst to me, contains office xp cds within, i only found out later whenafter i reinstall windows and i couldn't find the disc, it was too late; clippy was gone.

i still misses him dearly, up until this day, i manage to get ahold of office 97 floppy disc version, but i never like the clippy there...

please tell me, is there someway i can get clippy back? i'm not going to resort to pirating nor will i throw 300 usd for office 2003/vista just for the damn, yet lovable paperclip, i love abiword and i've been using for a while, but it's just not the same when you're typing things and there's noone there to anony you or give you a wink, it's just not the same without clippy! T_T

so please, help me, can i get clippy to run by itself?

thank you for your generous help.

    Kill 'Clippy'

Get rid of the annoying Office assistant once and for all.

Yes, I know. Clippy is annoying. He pops up to remind you of your dumb mistakes, your missed keystrokes. He is always trying to second-guess you, and he thinks you want his friendly suggestions. Now, thanks to "The Screen Savers," you have the power to kill Clippy.

Office 2000 allows you to selectively uninstall office components.

Open the Add/Remove Programs dialogue box from the control panel.
Double-click Microsoft Office 2000, or select it and click Change.
You will get a Maintenance Mode window. Click Add or Remove Features.
Clippie lives in Office Tools. Click the plus sign next to Office Tools and then click Office Assistant.
Choose "Not Available" from the menu.
Hold a funeral for the dear, departed office assistant.
