Hi. I received an imminent hard drive failure message on my 8-year-old HP Pavilion dv6-2155dx notebook. I attempted a WindowsImageBackup (64-bit Windows 10) but couldn't get past the "Windows couldn't find a system image on this computer" message during the restore process (perhaps due to some bad sectors). A second attempt using EaseUS ToDo software also failed, and their support team instead had me perform a USB-to-SATA clone onto the new hard drive, which took 2 1/2 days(!) but apparently was successful, as the new initialized disk matched the GB volume and partitions of the original when I checked Disk Management via the USB/SATA connection (although the EaseUS logs do show a handful of failure symbols during the process, due to the bad sectors I presume).
My problem now is that my computer doesn't boot to the installed cloned hard drive (though it still boots to the failing hard drive). I simply get the HP logo screen. F9 nor any of the other buttons have any effect, though the computer recognizes what I'm attempting to do via the message that shows up in the lower left corner.
I still have the bootable repair discs I made of the failed WindowsImageBackup, Windows 7 recovery discs from 2010, Windows 7 replacement discs from about 6 years ago, plus I have my files backed up on a My Book external hard drive. I'm hoping someone knows some steps I can take to get my computer to boot from my cloned hard drive (and how to get back again just in case the cloned drive is somehow faulty).
Thank you very much.
