After trying to help a poster, and having my help reply attacked by another tsg member as not having relevance to the post, I replied to the attacker in a civil manner, no profanity, name calling ect, explaining that my reply to the op was part of the ops 2 part question. A mod removed my post with the remark that it was inflammatory, and argumentative. After almost 11 years of being a member of tsg, never having a problem, or my account disabled for any reason, and having a reply I deemed, and was civil deleted just because of someones mindset at the time they looked at the reply is beyond me. Therefore, I have decided to have my account closed posthaste.

    Hi Isaac,

I think you may have misunderstood what transpired there. The other poster was out of line for questioning your assistance and they received an infraction for that. All of their posts were deleted along with one of yours, which couldn't be left to stand on its own as it would be a meaningless reply to a post that no longer exists.

I sincerely hope you will reconsider and stick around for another ten years at least. :)

It happens now and then Isaac and you did not do anything wrong. So please stay around.

Hi Cookiegal, sorry for not responding sooner, but I had eye surgery yesterday, and did not feel like doing any typing. Thanks for taking the time to set me straight regarding my deleted reply in that thread. I am glad to know I didn`t do, or say anything to embarrass TSG, or to not be of help to the op. I also believe I had a "knee jerk" reaction regarding having my account closed that normally I would not have had because of my upcoming surgery(my wife says I was not in my normal state of mind during that time, and now that I look back, I have to agree with her). So, if it is ok, I would like to withdraw my request, and keep my account open if that is within the rules.

    Regards
    Isaac

Of course it's OK. I'm glad to hear you changed your mind. That's what I was hoping for. (y)

Good luck with the upcoming surgery. :)

Hi hewee, I appreciate your taking time for me. Thanks for the encouraging words("pat on the back"), they mean more than you know:) I misunderstood what had happened in that thread(my mindset was not where it should have been, and I had a knee jerk reaction). I have withdrawn my request to have my account closed, and Cookiegal has kindly accepted that.

    Regards
    Isaac

I've been a member here for almost 11 years and have been the receiver of criticism and sarcasm several times, but that doesn't stop me from continuing to help people here.

I've had 3 retina tears and 1 retina detachment in the past and am currently dealing with glaucoma and macular degeneration and am down to one good eye, so I hope your eye surgery was a minor issue.

Hi flavallee, sorry to hear about the problems/ongoing conditions you have had/are having with your eyes, and wish you the best for that. For me, it went going from seeing good in both eyes, even passing the state driving eye exam 3 years ago without having to wear glasses, to not being able to see hardly a thing out of both eyes in just a few months. I had developed full blown cataracts in both eyes at the same time in just a few months. I haven`t been able to drive a car in over 9 months, and went from not having to use any glasses to use the computer, to having to use the accessibility wizard for blind people on all the largest size settings and color options in windows on my 21 inch monitor to enlarge everything, and even at that, it was a struggle. I had my first surgery yesterday on my left eye, and today for the first time in over 9 months, I can see the light at the end of the literal tunnel out of that eye. In 3 weeks surgery on the right eye. Flavallee, from one Vietnam vet to another, wishing you all best for your eyesight, and thanks for the insight, and replying to my thread.

    Regards
    Isaac

    Isaac, if I may...

I think one of the more challenging aspects of being on a discussion board is trying to always understand the intent and feeling behind posts and actions. After all, we lose those ever important aspects usually available to us: the ability to read body language, inflection, and non-verbal communication.

But you took the time to take the ever critical step of asking the questions, and expressing your concerns. After all, how can one address the issue, if one doesn't know the issue exists? :)

Thanks for your patience and the help you have given here.

FWIW... Thanks for all the service you gave to our country. There are many who are thankful for it every day. (y)

Cataract surgery in both eyes will restore the vision clarity. I went through it in 1985 and 1987 and had perfect vision afterwards with the aid of eyeglasses. There have been medical advances since then, so you may not need to wear eyeglasses. Take my advice and have an eye exam at least once a year, whether your vision stays perfect or not. If I had done that, the glaucoma would've been detected sooner and done less damage. Exposure to Agent Orange in Vietnam was suspected as the cause of my eye issues, but it couldn't be proved.

Sometimes we need to bite our lip and watch what we say in response to criticism and sarcasm from others here. I've learned to let most of it bounce off me and just keep on doing what I do here.

    You're welcome mtzlplex.
My dad smash up a couple times and then the cataracts came or got worse and we knew something was wrong. So he got that taken care of and it made he eyes better. He had gotten were he had to wear glasses to read and drive. But now he does not need glasses to drive.

Take good care of your eyes. [IMG]

Hi Brad, thanks for your reply, and astute insight, it is much appreciated and will be remembered. Sometimes when life becomes over complicated, one can tend to lose sight of the bigger picture, and for one moment, that is what I did. I will not let that happen again. I know this may sound somewhat corny to some, but in the 42 years since I came back from Vietnam, I have been thanked by 2 individuals for my military service there, you are one of the two. It is important to me, and I will remember, thanks so much for that.

    Regards
    Isaac

Thanks for the tips, and advice on my eye situation Frank, it`s reassuring to hear from someone who has been through what I am going through. Yearly eye exams from now on too. In 1985 I lost a hometown friend that was "in country" around the same time I was, death determined to be from exposure to Agent Orange. What a waste, and you never even knew you were being exposed till years later when all the health problems arose. I consider myself very lucky to have not been exposed(hopefully). Thanks for everything Frank, and good luck with everything.

    Regards
    Isaac
