On right side of my task bar is a clock and other stuff. When I right click, properties, customize I see a bunch of icons. Most I have set to always hide. Some change for no reason to always show. Some are double for no reason. I would like to remove some of them. Is this possible, and how?

Yah,easy, to get rid of those annoying notification area icons go here:
    http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

Scroll down to #53,click on it and when the download box opens, click open

This will also get rid of all icons in there that are no longer associated with anything

Wow, that xp_pastitems.vbs got rid of a lot of items. In fact I had to hit Restore Defaults several times to restore the ones I wanted. Will see how it works out. Thanks.

It's a handy little tool to have sometimes.

Today I have 6 Past Items. Only one is a double. It is my Local area Connection Speed. All are Hide When Inactive. Do not seem to be a bother, so will try to live with them.

Just so you know, the xp_pastitems.vbs only gets rid of icons that are not in use at the time or are no longer associated with anything so you can delete any of them and they will be re-created when xp wants them.
