    Hi!

My Sony VAIO laptop computer is not feeling well.

I have Windows Vista 32 bit, which i have (presumably) upgraded to at least SP1.
As for Service Pack 2, i can not install it due to the problems i am about to describe.

When i first log into Windows, i log in as my only user account (named "Lizard"), which is also my administrator account.

Among the very first messages i get is an error from RunDLL stating that "Error loading C:\Users\Lizard\AppData\Local\Temp\ddcAsqpO.dll".

After closing that alert - everything works just fine for between 2 to 20 minutes.

Then, i get another message that says "Host process for Windows services stopped working and was closed.".

After this error message, my beloved laptop goes through a Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde tranformation.

Everything related to Windows Explorer goes in slow motion, if i - for instance, want to save an image i have created - i have to wait for several minutes before the computer unfreezes. That is, if i'm lucky enough to get it back in the first place.

I have tried to get relevant updates for Windows; apart from Service Pack 2 i have also tried to use Windows Update, but i get an error message during the download procedure and then nothing is installed.

The same applies to Spyware Doctor, a program that used to run regular scans of my computer earlier, but now has been paralyzed by something.

Beeing a happy amateur, my investigations have produced very little.

I have, however - come up with the following conclusions:

    • The error message at start up - "ddcAsqpO.dll" - is related to some sort of evil malware called "CMDS".
    • To get rid of CMDS require expertise far beyond my humble comprehension.
    • That's it. Now i'm clueless.
Is there a chance that my problems are related to the CMDS-program?
Maybe i have more baddies in my computer that are ganging up on me?

I have posted a HiJackThis log below, for analysis by someone more initiated than myself.

Thank You very much in advance,
    /Stefan B

    Hiya

Are you still having this problem? If so, do the following:

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from Here or Here

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
    • Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
    • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
    • Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
    • The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
    • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
    • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
    • When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)
    • The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
    • Copy&Paste the entire report in your next reply.
    Extra Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts, click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process,if asked to restart the computer, please do so immediatly.

Download and scan with SUPERAntiSpyware Free for Home Users
    • Double-click SUPERAntiSpyware.exe and use the default settings for installation.
    • An icon will be created on your desktop. Double-click that icon to launch the program.
    • If asked to update the program definitions, click "Yes". If not, update the definitions before scanning by selecting "Check for Updates". (If you encounter any problems while downloading the updates, manually download and unzip them from here.)
    • Under "Configuration and Preferences", click the Preferences button.
    • Click the Scanning Control tab.
    • Under Scanner Options make sure the following are checked (leave all others unchecked):
      • Close browsers before scanning.
      • Scan for tracking cookies.
      • Terminate memory threats before quarantining.
    • Click the "Close" button to leave the control center screen.
    • Back on the main screen, under "Scan for Harmful Software" click Scan your computer.
    • On the left, make sure you check C:\Fixed Drive.
    • On the right, under "Complete Scan", choose Perform Complete Scan.

    Hi!

Thank You very much for Your reply.

I ran the SuperAntiSpyware and it scanned my computer for over 16 (sixteen) hours, and found a lot of evil code.

I let it remove the baddies, but the (Host process...) problem persisted, along with the functionality disorders of my computer.

    Then i had an idea.

I reviewed the Windows error log report, and i traced most of the problems to the same cause, namely - something called "Security Center".

I rebooted my computer, and just before the error had a chance to occur, i disabled this service.

As i am typing this, the computer has worked flawlessly for about six hours. =))

I hope it will work out just as fine when i reboot it tomorrow.

    Thanks again for Your time.

    Regards,
    /Stefan B

16 hours!! Good gravy, do you still have the log? It should be in the Program Files folder for SuperAntiSpyware.

Also, if you can run the MBAM and a fresh HijackThis log, as there may still be things left to remove.

Ooops, my mistake its not in the Program Files.

If you open the actual SuperAntispyware program, then click on Preferences then on the Statistics/Logs Tab.

In there, click on your log to highlight it, and then select View Log

Then you can copy/paste, but it may be a few replies, as there is a 3000 letter limit. Its okay to post over multiple replies ;)
