When I turn on my laptop the screen stays blank until the windows login screen, no cmos, nothing.

I have reinstalled the os (tried linux+windows) although everything appears as normal if I plug it into an external monitor so I really am a bit confused over this.

Does anyone have suggestions on what could be the cause of this?

    Thanks
    Jamie

What's the make and model? Usually, there is a key to press to boot into the CMOS.
